Michael Jordan bought the Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster, “the world’s fastest and most powerful convertible,” for $3.5 million. Jordan, a competitive athlete, owns one of only 30 supercars in the world, according to Robb Report.
“Today was a special day,” the Hennessey Performance account tweeted with a photo of firm CEO John Hennessey with Jordan and his new ride at Grove XXIII, the Hall of Famer’s Florida golf club. “An honor to build a customized Venom F5 for a special friend.”
The Venom F5 Roadster, debuted almost a year ago, boasts a carbon-fiber bоdy with yellow pinstriping.
Only 24 Venom F5 coupes were made in late 2022, making the convertible less unusual. Due to expanded production, the Venom F5 Roadster costs $3 million, while the coupe costs $2.1 million.
According to Front Office Sports, Jordan’s licensing relationship with Nike netted $256 million last year, and his Jordan Brand produced $5.9 billion. He also co-owns 23XI NASCAR with Bubba Watson and Tyler Reddick.
The Venom F5 has a mid-mounted twin-turbocharged 6.6-liter V8 engine with 1,817 horsepower and 1,193 pound-feet of torque with a seven-speed, single-clutch, semi-automatic transmission.
The roadster has many similarities to the coupe, especially at the front, but the cabin features a removable 18-pound carbon-fiber top panel. The F5 without a canopy weighs 3,100 pounds, up from 2,999 pounds.
To view the powerful engine behind the passenger compartment, the back has new tempered glass that can withstand temperatures above 1,050 degrees Fahrenheit.
